Sheldon ISD believes in providing career-building experiences at all levels and has created Cluster Night to provide a glimpse for middle school students to prepare career academy and pathway choices in high school. The first Cluster Night of the 2023-2024 school year was held September 19 and featured programs including Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources, Manufacturing, and Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics. Students and parents from C.E. King High School and both Null Middle School and King Middle School attended to see their students showcase the myriad of technical skills they are gaining, along with middle school students gaining knowledge concerning the programs they would like to study once in high school. Attendees created finger mums, conducted vital signs on small and large animals, performed tire pressure checks, and welded crosses using horseshoes.
Cluster Night offers a picture of the wide variety of skills students are learning and able to immediately use while in high school and beyond. Students walk away with industry based certifications, work-based learning experiences and college hours. Additionally, parents, students and the community can hopefully gain a better understanding of the importance of Career and Technical Education offered in Sheldon ISD.
The next Career Cluster Night will be held November 14.
